Domestic abuse survivor shares powerful video
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - Darrian Amaker is a writer and singer who posted a Facebook note and video on January 16 recounting the horrible alleged abuse she received from a former boyfriend in November 2015.
She writes, “He had planned it out; I was supposed to die.”
She escaped and spent four days recuperating in a hospital, while the man was charged with six felonies by a grand jury.
She also writes, “I don’t generally record videos of myself but it was the only thing I wanted to do in the hospital. I insisted – it felt important and a small triumph to make something, salvage anything from my shipwrecked heart.”
Amaker shared the video with the Facebook page for the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
