Officials unveiled renderings of what will be the new main entrance to Penn Station. It will be located at 33rd Street and 7th Avenue and will connect commuters to the Long Island Rail Road concourse and the subways.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo called it a "beautiful" design and said the new Penn Station will be a "world-class facility." Passengers will be able to come in that entrance and avoid the front of Penn, which is always crowded.

The all-glass entrance will have a 30-foot-high overhang illuminated with different colors.

The project is estimated to cost about $600 million; $170 million is coming from the MTA and the rest will come from the state's budget.

The LIRR concourse will also get a facelift. It will be much bigger—wider by 30 feet and the 18-foot ceilings.

Penn Station has been under construction for some time now as part of the governor's redevelopment master plan, which continues to move forward.

Construction will start next month. The governor promised it will be completed by December 2020.
