(FOX5NY.COM) - Singer Demi Lovato was recovering in a Los Angeles area hospital Wednesday after an apparent overdose.
A law enforcement source told TMZ that Lovato appeared to have been on heroin but a rep later said: "Some of the information being reported is incorrect."
The 25-year-old was taken from her house in the Hollywood Hills to the hospital for treatment on Tuesday just before noon Pacific time. Sources told TMZ she was treated with naloxone nasal spray, which can counter an opioid overdose.
"Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support," Lovato's representative said in a statement Tuesday evening. "Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now."
Lovato has been open with the public about her struggles with depression, addiction, and eating disorders.
She was scheduled to play a concert on the beach in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on Thursday.
