DC plane crash: How to donate to verified fundraisers for victims’ families

GoFundMe has established a verified donation page for those looking to support families impacted by the deadly midair collision near Washington, D.C. The page includes fundraisers that have been vetted to ensure contributions go directly to those affected.

As of now, four verified fundraisers are active:

  • Wendy Jo Shaffer Memorial Fund: This fundraiser honors Wendy Jo Shaffer, a mother of two who perished in the crash.
  • Financial Assistance for the Stovall Family: This campaign supports Ashleigh and Jake Stovall following the loss of their husband and father, Mikey Stovall, who died in the crash.
  • Together in Grief: Supporting the Beyer Family: This fund is for the family of 12-year-old Brielle and her beloved mother, Justyna, who both tragically died in the recent Washington, DC, plane crash.
  • Support the Crafton Family After Tragedy: This fundraiser is being started to raise funds for the family of Casey and Rachel Crafton. Casey was flying home on January 29, from Wichita, KS, with a layover in Washington, DC. The page was created to help raise money for their family preparing the funeral as well as for life without them.
  • Honoring Kiah Duggins: A Legacy of Justice: The funds raised on behalf of Kiah Duggins will go toward honoring causes she was passionate about, such as environmental justice, legal and civil rights advocacy, and education and empowerment.
  • Support Kayla, Rowen, and Hadley: This GoFundMe page was created for the family of Alex Huffman who was on board the American Airlines flight from Kansas to Washington, D.C., after being away on a hunting trip.
  • Remembering Lucho and Franco Aparicio: The tragic passings of Luciano and Franco Aparicio, who were returning home from the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Wichita, KS, are being honored by friends. The donations will go toward a college fund.
  • Funeral expenses for Pilot Jonathan Campos: The Campos family has created a GoFundMe to help Pilot Jonathan Campos' mother, Jeannine Campos, with funeral expenses during this difficult time. Jonathan was a dedicated pilot for American Airlines.
  • GoFundMe for the Pitcher Family: The sister of Jesse Pitcher created this GoFundMe on behalf of her family and Pitcher's beloved wife, Kylie. Jesse Pitcher was onboard American Airlines flight 5342 that didn't land Wednesday evening.
  • Help Bridget and Family Honor Steve's Memory-Flight 5342: Friends of the Johnson family is organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Bridget Johnson.
  • Support the Crafton Family after the loss of Casey Crafton: Casey Crafton was a beloved member of the aviation community who was lost after the tragic American Airlines disaster. The fundraiser was created to support his family.
  • In Memory of Alexandr Kirsanov and the Victims of AA5342: Coach Alexandr "Sasha" Kirsanov tragically passed away following the accident. All proceeds raised by Black Bear Sports Group and the Black Bear Youth Hockey Foundation will be distributed directly to the loved ones in our Black Bear community who were affected by this tragedy.
