NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - Winter Storm Jonas will turn out to be one of the top 3 biggest storms to ever hit New York, but it was still not big enough to prevent a couple from Huntington, Long Island from having their wedding. Bride-to-be Ashley Burlage headed down to the church with her dress pulled up from the ground so it wouldn’t drag through the snow; followed by dozens of guests. Amazingly, they invited 200 people to the wedding and 100 people made the trip.
She had to take the subway after the travel ban meant her limo could no longer take her to the church.
These weren’t exactly local people either, with some, coming from as far as Virginia.
“We partied with a lot of strangers, chanting 'subway wedding', it was just a lot of fun,” Ashley said. “Our pictures are going to be next level.”
“I can’t say thank you enough to our family and friends who made it because it made our day,” husband Casey Burlage said.
The priest said Ashley was born in a snow storm and now, she was getting married in one.
“She beat the snow to arrive in this world, beat the snow for her 30th birthday, I thought she was going to lose this one, but she pulled it off anyway,” Ashley’s father told us.
She is a gorgeous bride, with a very handsome groom, and a very happy family amid the monstrous snowstorm.
