Countdown to New Year 2025: Times Square hosts confetti test run

The world’s biggest New Year's Eve celebration is just two days away in Times Square.

On Sunday, organizers of the Times Square holiday tradition conducted a practice confetti drop at Broadway Plaza, between 45th and 46th Streets, to ensure the confetti meets their standards.

The confetti test started at 11 a.m.

Countdown Entertainment President Jeffrey Straus, Alliance President Tom Harris, and Planet Fitness Chief Brand Officer Jamie Medeiros, with help from the Planet Fitness ambassadors, tested the confetti.

Planet Fitness, one of the event's co-sponsors, stated that the preparation is for the 3,000 pounds of confetti scheduled to drop on New Year's Eve.

The 3,000 pounds of confetti released on New Year’s Eve will include thousands of wishes from individuals who have submitted them on actual confetti at the New Year’s Eve Wishing Wall in Times Square and via the Virtual Wishing Wall.
