Cops: Man stole SUV with 2 kids in backseat
AUDUBON, N.J. (AP) — Police say a southern New Jersey man stole an SUV from a liquor store parking lot with two children in the backseat.
Magnolia police say 38-year-old Christopher Dumas jumped in the sport utility vehicle around 11:30 p.m. Saturday and took off. Investigators say he drove about three miles before he lost control of the Chevrolet Trailblazer, collided with another vehicle and flipped the SUV on a front lawn in Audubon.
The two young children were treated for minor injuries and the Paulsboro man was transported to a hospital. The driver of the second SUV was hospitalized. Her condition isn't known.
Dumas is charged with kidnapping, child endangerment and related offenses.
It's unclear whether the woman who left the children in the car with the engine running will face any charges.
