Cops: Man broke into Long Island church 4 times

Police arrested a man suspected of burglarizing a Long Island church four times during the past three weeks.

Suffolk County Police charged Michael Fredericks, 28, with four counts of third-degree burglary for allegedly breaking into Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Hunter Avenue in West Islip four times in March and April. Police said he stole donation money during the first three break-ins.

Based on a tip called into Crime Stoppers and evidence from security video, detectives tracked down Fredericks as their suspect, Commissioner Timothy Sini said. Fredericks has an apparent drug problem, Sini said.

Cops said Fredericks was living in his SUV.

He is set to be arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Central Islip.
