Sit down and enjoy the show. At Daniel on the Upper East Side, Marci wheeled out a custom-made wood and marble trolley topped with a prohibition-style shaker and all the ingredients for a Castellammarese Rye, served in a teacup.

Here it's not just the drink but the story behind it, slowing down the cocktail experience.

Service director Karim Guedouar got the inspiration from France, where it is common for the server to prepare parts of a meal at the table.

Tableside drink service like this has been gaining ground at upscale restaurants all over the country. Most of them use it as a way to showcase their rare and prized liqueurs. Daniel began the service in January and since then it has become a huge draw in the dining room.

Guedouar says the restaurant sells about 20 tableside cocktails a night.
