Central Park horseback riding
NEW YORK - Fox 5 went horseback riding, but not in the country -- right in Central Park. The general public now has the opportunity to rent horses in Central Park. The last public stable went out of business in 2007, but now, thanks to Melissa Varcoe, you can, once again, enjoy this experience year-round. Melissa and her five horses live in Orange County.
It is a beautiful way to see the park. You're surrounded by people walking their dogs, jogging, riding bicycles, and, of course, spectacular city skylines intertwined with nature. It's a great perspective because you're up high. You seeing things that you wouldn't see from ground level.
All you have to do is go to centralparkhorsebackrides.com and book a ride. It costs $125 for 1 hour 15 minutes on the West Side of the park and $200 for a 2-hour stroll. And the best part? You don't have to be an experienced rider. Just enjoy the ride. She offers group discounts and also riding lessons.
