Céline Dion's brother dies of cancer

This has been an extremely difficult week for Céline Dion and her family. A day after Dion’s husband, René Angélil, lost his battle with throat cancer, reports confirm that her brother Daniel has died of cancer as well.

Dion’s rep said early Saturday that Daniel was very ill and was not expected to survive much longer.

Later in the day, the rep confirmed that Daniel had succumbed to the disease.

Daniel suffered from cancer of the throat, tongue and brain and did not have long to live. He had battled the disease for a few years, Celine's rep said in a statement.

He was 59 years old.

Celine Dion is one of 14 children.
