The fun and games turned serious after a fire broke out at Playland Park in Rye, New York.
The fire broke out at the amusement park’s 102-year-old carousel a little before 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
Videos and pictures show smoke coming from the roof of the carousel as firefighters put out the fire, which has since been controlled.
Peter Tartaglia, deputy commissioner of Westchester County Parks, Recreation and Conservation, said people were immediately evacuated from the ride. But the park was not closed as firefighters battled the blaze. He told the Journal News the cause was still undetermined.
