Bus bursts into flames near Grand Central Terminal

An empty city bus burst into flames in Manhattan at the start of the morning rush on Thursday.

Video sent to FOX 5 NY of the burning M101 bus on Lexington Ave. and 45th St. shows large flames and dark plumes of smoke shooting from both sides of the bus. The windows appeared to have been blown out.

It is not clear what sparked the fire near Grand Central Terminal at about 6:40 a.m.. There were no reports of injuries. The fire was under control at about 7:40 a.m., said FDNY officials.

Lexington Ave. was temporarily closed between 46th to 42nd St.
