Buildings collapse in New Jersey fire
DOVER, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say a fire in the business district of a New Jersey town has resulted in the collapse of four buildings, but no injuries were immediately reported.
Dover Public Safety Director Daniel DeGroot says the blaze was reported just after 3:30 p.m. Monday as smoke in the basement of a luncheonette in the town about 30 miles (48 kilometers) west of New York City.
He says the flames spread quickly through the structure and adjoining buildings, which house both businesses and apartments.
DeGroot says a portion of the building collapsed into the street and numerous fire crews were still fighting the flames after 6:30 p.m. Monday.
But DeGroot says all occupants of the buildings were safely evacuated and no injuries were reported.
