NEW YORK - The hit Broadway musical 'Aladdin' will resume performances Thursday night after the show was forced to cancel a performance at the New Amsterdam Theatre Wednesday night due to breakthrough COVID cases.
"Through our rigorous testing protocols, breakthrough COVID-19 cases have been detected within the company of Aladdin at the New Amsterdam Theater," Disney Theatrical Productions said in a statement.
Aladdin had just welcomed back theatergoers on Tuesday night for the first time in 18 months.
Wednesday's cancellation was the first missed performance of a Broadway show for COVID-related reasons since theaters started reopening in June.
Tickets will be refunded.
Cast and crews of the show must be vaccinated and are subject to regular COVID testing.
