Boatsetter matches boat owners to renters

Soon, warmer weather will be here making it the perfect time to go boating. But what if you don't have a boat? Andy Sturner's company Boatsetter can help. He calls it Airbnb meets Uber for boating. The company lets boat owners rent out their boats when they aren't using them.

People log onto the website and simply request to charter the boat they like. If the renter has a valid boating license, the owner will decide if you can operate the boat alone or need a captain. The company will provide a captain for you.

Since Boatsetter launched more than a year ago, they have partnered with about 4,000 boat owners globally. Because docking a boat can be very expensive as can renting one thru other means, Sturner sees this as a win for both sides.

Fees can vary depending upon the size of the boat requested.  Charters can last for a few hours or as long as a month.

If you've never been out on a boat now is your opportunity to do so on your terms.
