BARKHAMSTED, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut environmental police say a bear casually walked into a home, strolled past the homeowner and a child and helped itself to whatever food was inside the kitchen.
The bear break-in was reported in Barkhamsted Thursday. Authorities say the bear ate food from the refrigerator, pantry and countertops, and left just as state troopers arrived.
Connecticut State Police say they lost sight of the bear in the neighborhood, and the animal was not tagged.
Environmental Conservation Police say they spotted a bear in the area, but they could not determine if it was the same bear.
EnCon officers hazed the bear they found with a bean bag round, and no other action was taken.
