Atlanta couple celebrates 80th wedding anniversary
ATLANTA - A special party was held on Sunday in honor of a southwest Atlanta couple celebrating a milestone wedding anniversary this week.
Willie and Ethel Rozier's love story began in 1935 at the Lincoln Theater in Atlanta. Exactly one year later they got married on April 21, 1936. This Thursday they will be celebrating 80 years of wedded bliss.
They are now affectionately known as “Pop and Granny,” according to their great-granddaughter Brandis Makeba Rozier. Together they have seven children, 28 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
On Sunday, they celebrated with loved ones at Murrell’s on Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive. At the party the lovebirds learned their first great-great-great grandchild will be born later this year.
The Roziers have had a number of reasons to celebrate lately. Last month, Ethel turned 95-years-old and her husband turns 100 in September.
"The secret to their long-lasting union is 'supporting each other, not allowing arguments to escalate, and unconditional love,'" Brandis Rozier told us.
From all of us at FOX 5, happy 80th anniversary!
