Amtrak service resumes after suspension between New York and Philadelphia
NEW YORK - Amtrak service has resumed after temporarily being suspended between New York Penn Station and Philadelphia due to downed overhead wires.
As of 1:42 p.m. Amtrak said two of the four tracks have resumed service. Amtrak said that delays along the Northeast Corridor are expected.
"This incident has impacted trains operating from Washington Union Station (WAS) to Boston South Station (BOS). Customers traveling along the Northeast Corridor should expect delays of at least 30 minutes to 60 minutes. We will update you when the service is fully restored. We appreciate your patience," Amtrak said in a statement on their website. "Customers with reservations on affected trains will typically be accommodated on trains with similar departure times or another day. Amtrak will waive additional charges for customers looking to change their reservation during the modified schedule by calling our reservation center at 1-800-USA-RAIL."
