Amtrak employee shoots co-worker, self
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - An Amtrak employee was reportedly dead after shooting himself in Queens.
The 48-year-old had opened fire on a supervisor at around 8 a.m. Thursday before turning the gun on himself.
The initial shooting took place in the railroad's Sunnyside yards at 39th St. and Skillman Ave. The suspect shot the 53-year-old man in the left leg. The victim was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in stable condition.
The suspect drove off in a dark colored SUV.
He was found at about 9:19 p.m. about a mile away in the vehicle. He had suffered self-inflicted gunshots, said police. He was rushed to Elmhurst hospital where he was reportedly declared dead.
Cops said they were investigating the circumstances that lead to the shootings.
