Amtrak delays continue in and out of Penn Station amid holiday travel rush

Amtrak trains in and out of New York Penn Station experienced big delays in the middle of the holiday travel rush.

The company is blaming signal power issues, and it's canceled some trains to relieve congestion.

Amtrak said trains between Washington D.C. and Boston are being impacted by crew issues left over from Sunday's cancelations.

"Customers should expect a significant delay in and out of New York (NYP) due to single tracking conditions potentially causing rail congestion along our network," Amtrak said in a statement on their website on Monday.

This comes a day after Amtrak service was temporarily suspended between New York Penn Station and Philadelphia due to downed overhead wires.

"Customers with reservations on affected trains will typically be accommodated on trains with similar departure times or another day. Amtrak will waive additional charges for customers looking to change their reservation during the modified schedule by calling our reservation center at 1-800-USA-RAIL," Amtrak posted on their website.

Amtrak said crews are working on resolving this issue.
