Amber Alert canceled for NY girl

An Amber Alert for a missing New York girl was canceled Friday afternoon.

Malaya Johnson, 12, vanished from Hudson Falls, New York, on Wednesday and was spotted in New York City on Thursday.

The NYPD said Johnson contacted her family on Friday to say she was "OK" but was not returning home.

Police arrested a New York City man in connection with the disappearance. The Post-Star of Glens Falls reported that police arrested George Torres, 19, of the Bronx, on Thursday on a charge of endangering the welfare of a minor.

Hudson Falls Police Chief Scott Gillis said Johnson used social media to connect with Torres and arranged for him to pick her up after school Wednesday and drive her to New York City. They say he left her at the Staten Island Ferry a day later.

Torres was being held at Washington County Jail. It's not clear if he has an attorney who can speak for him.
