NEW HOLLAND, Pa. - Animal welfare officials are investigating after an abandoned horse was found to have been shot hundreds of times with a paintball gun.
The horse was found abandoned in a stable in Lancaster County after a scheduled horse sale took place at the location.
The horse was blind in one eye, without identification, and was sore to the touch. Investigators determined that the horse had been shot nearly 130 times with paintballs. Pictures of the horse show its discolored coat.
The Lancaster County SPCA responded and provided treatment to the abused animal. The horse was then transported to an area horse rescue.
