LOS ANGELES - For most people in their nineties, a typical morning doesn’t begin with jumping out of an airplane. Lorry Phillips is not like most people.
“I’m a little nervous, but I’ve taken risks before,” she said.
Her husband Bill was a World War II veteran and served in the 82nd Airborne Division. He passed away last year.
The 82nd Airborne made four combat jumps in World War II and was a vital part in winning the war.
Jumping from 10,000 feet is as much a way of paying tribute to her husband as it is for a long line of veterans she loves.
“I had a son that died and killed in Vietnam. I have three sons Greg, Bob, and Rick, who were in the service. And I also have a grandson that’s in the service,” Lorry explained.
After a successful jump like her husband had done so many times before, Lorry was all smiles, saying “It was beautiful.”
Honoring those we’ve lost can be a great way to help them live on.
But it can also show how full of life you really are.
