NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - Nine residential buildings were evacuated as a precaution in the Bronx Thursday because a building under construction in the area appeared unstable, said FDNY officials.
The school under construction at 1232 Southern Blvd. in the Foxhurst section of the borough was not in danger of collapse but its facade raised concerns for officials.
An engineer reported problems to fire officials with the second-floor supports around 6:30 a.m.
As a result, 42 people were evacuated from apartment buildings on Southern Blvd. and Hoe Ave.
Subway service at the Freeman St. station was interrupted due to the incident.
