9/11 families seek to sue Saudi Arabia

Legislation, if passes, in Congress would let Americans sue Saudi Arabia over the September 11 terrorist attacks. But the Obama administration opposes the bill and the government of Saudi Arabia has threatened economic repercussions should it pass.

Some 9/11 families believe Saudi officials had some role in the attacks. Federal investigations have not revealed any links between the Saudi government and the attacks, but some lawmakers and 9/11 families say that some information remains classified. They point to redacted pages in the 9/11 Commission report.

Both Democratic presidential hopefuls Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders support the legislation.
