The FDNY was fighting an early morning fire in a Bronx midrise building on Wednesday morning.  The call came in just before 4 a.m. from the building on Knox Place in the Norwood section.

Residents of the building were forced to flee the building with only blankets to keep warm in the brutally cold pre-dawn hours.

Dozens of fire department vehicles clogged the streets in the area as crews worked to get the flames under control.

Two minor injuries were reported.  One was a civilian and the other was a firefighter.  The extent of their injuries and their conditions were not known.
