Baby struck by car on Staten Island

A vehicle struck a one-year-old boy and his mother in the Rosebank section of Staten Island. The baby is in critical condition. The mother suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

A one-year-old girl who was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street with her mother on Staten Island on Thursday has died, said police.

The baby and mother, 30, were crossing Abbott Street and Scarboro Avenue in the Rosebank section at about 7:05 a.m. when they were hit.

The child and mother were rushed to Staten Island University Hospital North. The child was in critical condition but later died. Her mother suffered non-life-threatening injuries. 

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.

Skyfox was over the area where police had cordoned off the intersection. Several police vehicles could be seen. An investigation was underway.
