Wild robbery at NJ jewelry store: Report

A couple was busted in New Jersey for attempting to pull off a wild robbery inside a jewelry store.

During the break-in at Massola Jewelers on Preakness Avenue in Wayne, the owner and son were Maced in the face after having a shotgun pointed at them, reported NJ.com.

While the sequence of events was unclear, the news site reported that Marc Niedle, 30, and Emily K. Lopazanski, 34, struggled with the owner and son at about 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

Niedle fled the store while Lopazanski continued fighting with the owner.  The fight spilled onto the sidewalk as police responded to the scene.

Niedle was later arrested at Newark Airport while he awaited a flight to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, reported NJ.com.

Surveillance camera video of the incident had not been released.

It was not clear if Niedle got away with anything from the store.

The pair was charged with aggravated assault with a weapon, robbery with injuries, and weapons possession. Niedle was also charged with conspiracy.
