VIDEO: Victim chases groping suspect through subway station
NEW YORK (FOX5NY.COM) - A brave young woman confronted the pervert who groped her inside a New York City subway station. And now cops want your help to catch him.
The NYPD release video footage from security cameras inside the Grand Central/42 Street subway station on August 31, 2018, that shows the man detectives believe grabbed a 26-year-old woman's buttocks while she was walking down a staircase.
"This individual grabbed a 26-year-old female victim's buttocks as she walked down a staircase, when confronted, he fled the station," Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea tweeted Thursday.
"Confronted" is an understatement.
The video shows the suspect walking through the station when all of a sudden the woman pounces on him, shoving and smacking him.
The man holds his arms up to protect his head and swats at her as she chases him through the station.
The video shows the man then pulling away from his victim and running through an emergency exit.
"She lost sight of him when he fled the station on foot westbound on 42 Street," the NYPD said in a news release.
Police describe the suspect as Hispanic, 20 to 30 years old, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, and about 225 pounds. On that day, he wore eyeglasses, a green t-shirt, black shorts, and black sneakers.
