Queens house being raised collapses onto another home
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - A house in Queens that was being raised became unstable and partially collapsed onto an adjacent building on Wednesday afternoon, city officials said.
No one was hurt in the mishap in Breezy Point, a neighborhood devastated in Superstorm Sandy.
The Department of Buildings ordered a stop to the construction at the site and the evacuation of the house next door.
The two-story home that was undergoing construction was not part of the city's Build It Back program for Sandy-ravaged properties.
