NYPD officer shot during friendly fire
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - A police officer was shot in the Shore Acres section of Staten Island Sunday night.
Two officers were responding to a domestic dispute just before 10 p.m. when they encountered a drunken man with a 14-inch knife, according to police.
The officers ordered him to drop the knife. When he refused, the man was Tasered. He continued toward the officers and they opened fire, added police.
The man was killed. An officer was shot in the stomach during the cross-fire. He was taken to Staten Island University Hospital in serious but stable condition.
An investigation continues into the shooting.
