Man slashed in subway robbery attempt

A man who was sleeping on a subway train in Manhattan was slashed during a robbery attempt. It happened just before 5 a.m. on Tuesday.

It happened in the Spring Street station in SoHo.  The 25-year-old man had fallen asleep on a southbound E train.

A man tried to steal the man's bag.  The pair got into a struggle and the suspect slashed the victim in the face.

The suspect took off before police arrived.  It was unclear if he got away with the victim's bag.  Police did not release any description.

The man who was slashed was taken to NY Hospital DowNtown with what police described as non life-threatening injuries.
