Actor Ken Kercheval of 'Dallas' dies at 83
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - Ken Kercheval, a veteran stage and television actor best known for portraying oil tycoon Cliff Barnes on "Dallas," has died, according to reports. He was 83.
A funeral home in Kercheval's hometown in Indiana confirmed the actor's death but didn't provide further details, Variety reported. The website of the Frist Funeral Home does not yet list Kercheval's name or obituary.
Kercheval appeared in all 14 seasons of "Dallas" during its initial run on CBS from 1978 to 1991. He again played the character—the archrival of J.R. Ewing (Larry Hagman)—in reunion shows and the series revival on TNT from 2012 to 2014.
He appeared in dozens of television shows, including The Defenders, Kojak, Starsky and Hutch, The Love Boat, and Diagnosis Murder, according to IMDB.com.
Kercheval was born in Wolcottville, Indiana.
