Fans of K-pop group BTS camp out ahead of NYC show
NEW YORK (FOX5NY.COM) - Fans of the Korean pop group BTS are lining up at Citi Field in advance of the concert this Saturday. BTS will perform at Citi as part of their first North American stadium tour, which already had two sold-out nights at Prudential Center in Newark. Some of the fans have been here since last weekend.
"The main floor of the concert is general admission, so I want to be one of the first people into the pit, Aileen White, a fan from Brooklyn, said. "So I've been camping here since Saturday night."
Katy Castro came from Fort Worth, Texas, with her two daughters.
"They decided they wanted to come here, so my husband and I kind of rearranged our life for a week," Katy said.
The name BTS, sometimes called "Beyond the Scene", is made up of seven adorable young men and every fan has their favorite.
Ginelle said her my favorite is V
"Other than his talents that can be seen onstage, I like him because his core personality and beliefs are very family oriented," she said. "He's very caring and outgoing."
"My favorite is RM, he's the leader of the group," Ariana said. "He's very charismatic, gets their message out there and he takes care of the boys."
Lively performances and interaction with their fans, called the army, have made BTS a global phenomenon.
Ester, a fan from Texas, said they are great dancers and performers but also good people.
The group made history last week when they became the first ever k-pop group to address the united nations. Their mission is to encourage young people to love themselves.
"It's also talking believing in yourself and believing in your own power and loving yourself through that," Aileen said.
And for that reason, these fans feel that BTS is worth the wait.
