Hawk captured in Penn Station
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - Among the Christmas getaway rush on Sunday evening in Penn Station was a red shouldered hawk.
The bird "attempted to beat the holiday rush" according to a tweet by the NYPD Special Ops unit. They joked that the hawk "missed the train."
Emergency Service Unit Detective Bucchignano safely captured the bird. The NYPD says it was uninjured and released back into the city.
Penn Station, in Midtown Manhattan, is the busiest train station in the United States and is a stop for Amtrak, New Jersey Transit and Long Island Railroad. It also contains a New York City subway station.
The station sits below Madison Square Garden.
