Fire at multistory building displaces dozens of people

NEW YORK (AP) - Fire officials say a three-alarm blaze in the Bronx injured three firefighters and left dozens displaced from their homes.

The New York Fire Department says the fire broke out around 8 p.m. Monday at a five-story building in the Mott Haven neighborhood. Authorities say the call originated from a stove fire that ballooned to the massive blaze requiring the response of over 100 firefighters.

Three firefighters suffered minor injuries while fighting the flames. The fire was extinguished around 10 p.m.

The FDNY says 32 adults and 16 children are displaced because of the fire. The Red Cross is working to assist them.

Fire crews say the majority of the damage appeared to be contained to the upper floors.
