Homeless man arrested for attacking 8-year-old on subway train
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - A homeless man has been arrested for punching an eight-year-old autistic boy in the back of the head on a subway train.
The assault occurred at about 8:40 p.m. Monday inside the Fulton Street station in Lower Manhattan. As the train pulled into the station the man walked over to the boy and punched him. Police say that no words were exchanged during the incident.
Police say that the attacker then got out of the train and got away.
The boy, who was with his mother at the time of the assault, was taken to NY Downtown Hospital where he was treated for swelling and released.
The NYPD says Alex Bienaime, 40, was arrested Tuesday. He's facing three assault charges for the attack. It is unclear if he has a lawyer.
